GOP tax relief plan clears two State House committees, heads to full House for consideration

LANSING, MI (WTVB) – A Michigan State House tax relief plan was passed by both the House Tax Policy and House Appropriations committees on Thursday.

The House Tax Policy Committee is chaired by Republican Matt Hall of Marshall. He says working families and seniors will benefit.

Hall feels his plan would offer relief to more people.

Hall says state spending needs to be controlled.

House Republicans say the reforms include $1.7 billion in annual tax relief and would reduce the income tax rate from 4.25 percent to 3.9 percent for all individual payers.

House Bills 5838 and 5054 now move to the full House for further consideration.
