KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Michigan State Police say even though snow that moved in Thursday afternoon made roads slippery in the Kalamazoo County and surrounding areas, excessive speed also appeared to a common factor in a number of slide-offs and other accidents.
There were multiple crashes in Kalamazoo County, especially on I-94 and US-131, the Kalamazoo County Dispatch Authority said in a tweet.
There were no reports of serious injuries in the accidents. Eastbound I-94 at the Mattawan Exit 66 in Van Buren County was closed for about one hour, beginning around 7:30 p.m. There were reportedly 20 accidents in 20 minutes in the stretch between Exit 56 and Exit 56.
A Wind Advisory will be in effect for most of the area from 1:00 p.m. Friday until 10:00 a.m. Saturday.
