THREE RIVERS, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A Three Rivers man is in jail after fleeing and eluding law enforcement while in the possession of illicit drugs.
St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Deputies say they caught the 41-year-old suspect after being led on a high speed chase for seven miles at speeds of over 100 miles per hour.
It all began around 8 p.m. on Monday when deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the suspects vehicle in the 63000 block of Lutz Road in Florence Township. Deputies say the vehicle did stop briefly before taking off at a high rate of speed. They then pursued the suspect, who entered the city of Three Rivers during the chase.
With the help of the Three Rivers Police Department, deputies were able to stop the vehicle with the deployment of stop sticks, after the suspect threw narcotic related evidence out of his window.
The suspect was then arrested for possession of meth, possession of oxycodone, fleeing and eluding, destruction of evidence and parole violation.
