KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Everyone will be climbing one rung on the ladder as Kalamazoo County scrambles to fill top management vacancies.
Tuesday was Lisa Henthorn’s last day on the job as Interim County Administrator. She is retiring.
She says her granddaughter was born in November and her plans to extend her stay until march went out the window. She says she will miss it after 35 years working for the County.
County Health Director Jim Rutherford will serve as her temporary replacement. Tuesday night the Kalamazoo County Board of Commissioners approved the appointment of Deputy Health Director Deb Lenz to fill in for Rutherford for now.
Henthorn is optimistic they will have a new permanent County Administrator in a few months.
Despite the turnover, officials say the county hasn’t missed a beat on the many challenges its faced, including the COVID-19 pandemic, building a new county courthouse, the new county budget for 2022 budget, and distributing millions of dollars for affordable housing and COVID-19 relief.
