KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A man accused of fatally stabbing his wife will have to be found competent before his trial can proceed, according to an update from MLive Monday.
On Sunday, January 9, Kalamazoo Township police were called to a residence in the 700 block of Campbell, where they found a 37-year-old woman who had been stabbed.
The victim, identified as Melissa Lain, later died from her wounds.
Her husband, 43-year-old David Lain, was later arrested in Berrien County.
According to the update from MLive, Judge Alisa Parker-LaGrone has ordered a mental competency examination for Lain, which will be taken before the trial moves forward.
He remains in custody at this time.
