MIDDLEVILLE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A suspect is in custody in relation to a possible threat made to Thornapple Kellogg Schools in Barry County on Thursday, January 20.
Sheriff’s Deputies received word of the possible threat around 7 a.m. that morning at the High School on 3885 Bender Road in Middleville. Since then, they’ve identified a suspect who is in custody on unrelated charges.
School officials made the decision to send all students home due to the threat along with how late the district was notified of the threat. This prompted the superintendent’s office to close all schools earlier that morning.
Authorities say this is an ongoing investigation which will be forwarded to the Barry County Prosecutor’s Office upon completion. They believe at this time there is no continued threat to the school or the public.
Assisting agencies include: MDOC , Grand Rapids Police Department, and US Marshals Task Force.
