BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — It’s back to the classroom for students in the Pennfield district on Monday, January 24. This after learning virtually due to COVID-19 cases.
But when Monday rolls around next week, students and staff are expected to start wearing masks throughout the day.
The Pennfield Schools Board of Education approved a motion for universal masking at Pennfield Schools from January 24 to February 18.
The approved motion was dependent on a majority vote approval from the school community. The vote, which ran Tuesday, January 18 through Wednesday, January 19, garnered 57.5% approval in favor of the mask mandate.
School officials say that masks will not be required for after school activities or athletic events.
They say also that a doctor’s note will be needed for those who cannot wear a mask for medical reasons.
