BATTLE CREEK, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – The Battle Creek fire marshal is investigating the cause of a fire Monday afternoon which resulted in nearly $180,000 worth of damage to a home at 59 Bennett Street.
The fire was reported 4:23 p.m.. Fire was showing from the first and second floors when the first firefighters arrived.
Crews looked for occupants of the residence and ventilated it. It turns out everybody had gotten out safely before firefighters arrived.
It took about 40 minutes to get the fire under control as there were multiple rooms that were on fire. The blaze extended up into the attic before it was brought under control.
No injuries were reported and fire department officials say their crews were able to isolate the damage as much as possible.
