PORTER TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Cass County Sheriff’s Office is reporting a crash involving multiple vehicles that occurred Monday.
Around 10 a.m., deputies were called to US-12 and M-40 in Porter Township.
Police say 59-year-old Lloyd Overholt of Elkhart, IN lost control of his vehicle and could not stop due to the icy road conditions on M-40.
Overholt went through the stop sign and clipped the rear end of another vehicle, which was driven by 50-year-old Kari Scare of Marcellus, MI.
Overholt continued through the intersection, hitting a vehicle driven by 84-year-old Nelson Hill from Union, MI, who was westbound on US-12.
Overholt struck another vehicle driven by 59-year-old Thomas Rae of Elkhart, IN.
Hill was transported to Elkhart General with non-life-threatening injuries.
Seatbelts were worn by all drivers. Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be involved.
On Monday, police officers across West Michigan were reportedly dealing with various crashes due to icy road conditions, such as in Grand Rapids.
