LANSING MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The State Court of Appeals has decided that a man convicted of criminal sexual conduct does not deserve a new trial, despite the fact that the judge in the case sent emails to a prosecutor indicating her opinion in the case.
Daniel Loew was convicted on the CSC charge in 2019 by an Allegan County jury.
The judge in the trial had sent emails to a prosecutor, who was not involved in the case, asking questions about Loew and also portraying an unflattering opinion of the state police.
The appeals court decision stated that the emails did not give prosecutors an advantage in the case.
