KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Today is the Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and as they have for years, the City of Kalamazoo has declared that today should be a “day on”, rather than a “day off” and has organized one-day voluntary assignments to social service agencies throughout the area, as part of a National Day of Service.
According to Kalamazoo Vice Mayor Don Cooney, if the past two years have shown us anything, it’s that the need for Dr. King’s work goes on.
There will be several “teach-ins” on the Western Michigan University campus.
There will also be a memorial service and wreath laying at King Park on Rose Street. It begins at 4:40 p.m.
