KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Another 200,000 disposable masks are on their way to Kalamazoo Public Schools with the help of federal COVID-19 relief funds.
In a report by M-Live, the Board of Education approved the purchase of the additional children’s disposable surgical face masks for students to use to help prevent the spread of the virus.
According to a purchase agreement approved by the board on Thursday, January 13, the district is set to spend $35,880 of federal COVID relief dollars from the Elementary and Secondary School Relief fund on the new masks.
KPS opened it’s classrooms in the fall after closing for the entire 2020-21 school year due to the pandemic. Since then, the district has mandated masks for all students and employees while inside school buildings.
