KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A total of three vehicles stolen in Calhoun County were recovered in Kalamazoo yesterday and early this morning.
Wednesday the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety responded to the 4400 block of South Westnedge Avenue where a stolen pickup truck from Calhoun County was recovered.
Then around around 2:00 a.m. Thursday, Public Safety responded to the report of a crashed vehicle in the 400 block of West Kilgore that matched the description of another stolen vehicle. The vehicle was confirmed as stolen from Calhoun County.
While setting up a police K-9 search, a third stolen vehicle from Calhoun County was located in the 700 block of West Kilgore Avenue that was running.
When police approached the vehicle, it fled, striking a KDPS police cruiser in the process. Police chased the vehicle, but later stopped because they say the suspect vehicle was disregarding traffic lights, making the risk to the general public too great.
That stolen vehicle was soon after located near the intersection of Bryant and Portage Road, unoccupied. Another police K-9 track was attempted but did not locate the suspect.
