PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The suspect in a Portage double stabbing case this week has been released from jail, according to an update from MLive Wednesday.
Police told MLive that he has been released while more information is gathered before pressing charges.
He is identified only as a 27-year-old man.
Previously, police had been called to Davis Creek Apartments around 3:15 p.m. Monday on a report of the stabbing.
Two men, identified as a father and son, had been stabbed. A third man, identified as the suspect, received unspecified injuries.
All three were taken to a hospital, but the third was arrested after the fact. The father and son later died from their injuries.
On Tuesday, police identified the father as 49-year-old Maurice Pearson of Kalamazoo.
According to the update Wednesday, his 21-year-old son is identified as Xavier Pearson.
In addition, police said that a woman was at the apartment with two children at the time of the incident. None of those three were injured.
There are also two additional incidents that are under investigation regarding this apartment, which are said to be connected.
One of those incidents was an assault on Saturday, January 8, along with a case of property destruction on Sunday, January 9.
