KALAMAZOO COUNTY, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – All Kalamazoo County jury trials have been suspended until late February, officials announced Tuesday.
Officials say the suspension is due an ongoing surge of COVID-19 cases. It will be in place until at least February 21.
“The chief judges and court administrators continue to consult with local health authorities on a regular basis regarding the COVID-19 case rates in Kalamazoo County, and in the past few days, they have confirmed that there is no reasonable likelihood that the Kalamazoo County COVID-19 cases will significantly decrease of the next several weeks,” officials wrote.
It was also noted that staffing levels are already being negatively affected.
