BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Battle Creek Public Schools students will not be in the classroom next week.
In a letter posted on the district website Thursday, Superintendent Kim Carter said the district will return to remote learning Monday, January 10. Carter said the pause to in-person instruction is due to rising COVID-19 cases in the community.
“We know that remote learning places significant burdens on students, families, and our staff members, but the impacts of widespread community cases make this step essential at this time,” Carter wrote. “In partnership with all of our BCPS heroes and the surrounding community, we will do our best to provide as much additional support as possible to families during this difficult time. Please reach out to your student’s building with any questions or concerns.”
Under the current plan, students would return to the classroom beginning Tuesday, January 18, following Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
