PENNFIELD TOWNSHIP, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office says a 12-year-old has been identified as the suspect after threats of violence were directed at Pennfield Schools.
The threats were investigated on Wednesday after they were texted to an employee of the schools using the Textnow communication platform.
Through the course of the investigation, the seventh grade student was identified as the suspect. A search warrant was executed in the 9000 block of Huntington Road in Pennfield Township.
A juvenile petition will be submitted to the Calhoun County Prosecutors Office for review.
As a precaution, a Calhoun County Sheriff Explosive Detection K-9 completed a sweep of the building.
The Sheriff’s Office says at no time was there is any imminent threat to the safety of students at Pennfield Schools associated to this incident.
