Faulty wiring listed by BCFD as cause of Tuesday night fire on Gardenia Street

BATTLE CREEK, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – Faulty wiring close to the chimney is being listed by Battle Creek Fire Department officials as the cause of a fire Tuesday night at 63 Gardenia Street.

The fire was reported at 9:11 p.m. at the property owned by James McKnight.

Officials say the homeowner reported smoke when he called in the fire.

Light smoke was showing from a possible chimney fire when the first firefighters arrived.

Damage in the single story structure was reported in the basement and living room.

No injuries were reported.
