KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Spectators for Loy Norrix High School athletic events will have to tune in online, according to an announcement from the athletic department Tuesday.
The department says this measure is going to be effective through January.
The events in question include men’s swimming, men and women’s basketball, wrestling and competitive cheer.
A streaming camera was already installed in the gym last year, officials said.
Spectators can stream events through this link from the National Federation of High Schools (NFHS), although there is a $10.99 monthly fee to do so.
For swim and dive events, officials say the school is able to livestream through YouTube. However, a search is currently underway to find a camera operator for home meets.
Officials add that the decision will be re-evaluated next month.
