BATTLE CREEK, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – A majority of Battle Creek Education Asssociation members issued a No Confidence vote this week against Battle Creek School Superintendent Kimberly Carter, Central Administration and the implementation of Board Policy when it comes to student behavior and discipline.
Association President Anthony Pennock said in a letter to administrators, the association feels they “have been left out of crucial elements of the process, questioned on referrals, and informed that consequences for behaviors should be minimal due to student trauma.”
He went on to say some staff members, specifically teachers, have been injured at work.
Pennock also claims in his letter, “In multiple meetings the current Administration informed teachers that student behaviors and discipline was a ‘building issue,’ even when it is a problem in nearly every building in our district.”
Carter told WOOD-TV, “We’re absolutely going to find out where the disconnect is occurring in our district, then try to create a plan for moving forward,”
