DETROIT, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Detroit Pistons gave up 51 points to Kevin Durant in a 116-104 loss to the Brooklyn Nets at Little Caesars Arena.
Detroit was outscored by Brooklyn 30-13 in the final frame after leading by five at the end of the third.
Cade Cunningham scored 26 points, and Frank Jackson added 25 off the bench for the Pistons.
Detroit has dropped 12 straight, and to make matters worse, leading scorer Jerami Grant will miss at least six weeks because of a UCL sprain in his right thumb. Grant was hurt during Friday’s setback in New Orleans. The 27-year-old is averaging just over 20 points per game this season for the NBA’s worst team.
The Grant-less Pistons are scheduled to visit the Bulls tomorrow.
The Chicago Bulls are now without nine players due to a COVID-19 outbreak within the organization. The team announced Sunday star Zach LaVine and forward Tony Brown Jr. have both entered the NBA’s health and safety protocols. The Bulls now have a total of nine players sidelined since the beginning of December.
Their next scheduled game is Tuesday at home against the Detroit Pistons. So far it’s unclear if the game is in jeopardy of being postponed.
