EAST LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Michigan State University running back Kenneth Walker III is the first Spartan player to win the Walter Camp and Doak Walker awards.
The Walter Camp award is given to the player of the year as voted on by 130 FBS head coaches and sports information directors. The Doak Walker award is presented to the nation’s top running back
University of Michigan defensive end Aidan Hutchinson is the Lombardi Award winner. The award is given to the nation’s best offensive or defensive lineman who embodies the character of NFL Hall of Fame coach Vince Lombardi.
Hutchinson is also a finalist for the Heisman Trophy, which will be awarded tomorrow.
U of M kicker Jake Moody is the winner of the Lou Groza award for the country’s top place kicker.
Moody has converted 22 of 24 field goal attempts and made all 56 extra points for 122 total points this season. He is the first U of M player to win the award.
