KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A police dog was able to assist the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety in apprehending a man suspected in an armed robbery Wednesday evening.
KDPS officers were dispatched to the 3700 block of South Sprinkle Road around 7:00 p.m. for the report of felonious assault involving a firearm. Officers arrived and quickly gathered that a robbery had taken place and the suspect fled on foot prior to officers arriving.
A perimeter was set up and a K-9 track was conducted. The suspect, a 29-year-old non-Kalamazoo resident, was taken into custody without incident near the scene.
The firearm, ammunition, and the stolen items were recovered. The suspect is currently lodged at the Kalamazoo County Jail awaiting arraignment.
