BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A man accused of murder in Battle Creek last year will be heading to trial, according to an update from WWMT Wednesday.
Previously, police were investigating the death of 38-year-old Justin Ash in August 2020.
The suspect in this case was later identified as Wendell Barton. The incident is said to happened at an apartment Ash shared with Barton’s ex-girlfriend.
A preliminary trial was held in May of this year, at which time Barton is said to have told police that he was in a fit of rage and jealousy when he discovered his girlfriend was seeing someone new.
He now faces various charges including open murder, but at this time, a new trial date has not been announced.
