KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A new Gage Cannabis Co. dispensary is set to open in Kalamazoo this month.
The new 4,000-square-foot facility will open on Friday, December 17 at 3825 Stadium Drive, with construction handled by Orion Construction Co.
According to officials with Orion, two existing buildings at this location, described as a vacant house and deteriorating gas station, were razed to make way for the new location.
The buildings were razed and soil remediation began in early July. Total construction took about four months, officials said.
“This location in Kalamazoo was left unattended and had become an eyesore on this heavily-traveled thoroughfare in the city,” Orion Construction President Brad Walsh said in a statement. “Under Gage’s vision, we transformed a neglected property into a modern, architecturally-crafted facility that will serve new and existing clients within the growing cannabis industry, and also support economic growth in Kalamazoo.”
The Kalamazoo dispensary is Orion Construction’s third construction project with Gage and will soon break ground on a facility in Mt. Morris, just north of Flint.
Based in Detroit, Gage Cannabis Co. (Gage Growth Corp.) operates 10 retail dispensaries throughout the state, including Grand Rapids, Lansing, Traverse City, Bay City, Jackson, Ferndale, Adrian and Burton.
The new Stadium Drive facility is the company’s second location in Kalamazoo, with the first being under the name Cookies on Portage Street.
