KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – It will be a busy holiday season for Kalamazoo City Commissioners, who will focusing on a new budget for the next month and a half.
They received copies of the 2022 budget proposal last week and will be doing a deep dive to meet the deadline for approval.
Mayor Dave Anderson says according to the City Charter, they have until January 31, 2022 to approve the new budget, so that means a lot to work in a short time.
This afternoon the City Commission will get their first look at a draft sustainability plan to reduce the carbon-footprint of city operations.
Tonight they will finalize work on a new plan to create a new kind of emergency housing for the homeless, and they will also set final plans for the return to live in-person commission meetings in two weeks.
