NEWBURG TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Cass County police are investigating after a three-vehicle crash sent one to the hospital on Friday, December 3.
Police say it happened around 12:40 p.m. on M-60 west of Corey Lake Road in Newburg Township.
Authorities say that a Chevy pick-up, driven by 75-year-old Charles Buck of Vandalia, failed to yield to the right of way and turned into the path of a Chevy Beretta, driven by 85-year-old Clare Trout of Jones. The pick-up struck the Beretta causing Trout to lose control and spin.
Trout’s vehicle then struck a Ford Explorer, driven by 43-year-old Khari Clements of Constantine.
Trout’s vehicle then left the roadway and struck some small trees. Trout had to be extricated from his vehicle and transported to Elkhart General Hospital for his injuries.
The other two drivers were not injured.
Authorities determined alcohol was not a factor in the crash said that all drivers were wearing their seat belts.
Assisting on scene were the Newberg Fire Department and SEPSA Ambulance. The crash remains under investigation.
