LANSING, MI — After more than four months of negotiations and a strike vote by nurses last week, Sparrow Hospital in Lansing this morning announced it has reached a tentative agreement on anew three-year contract with the union that represents its nurses and other caregivers.
Sparrow released the following statement this morning: “We are pleased to announce that after more than four months of collective bargaining, we have reached a tentative agreement (TA) with PECSH-MNA [Professional Employee Council at Sparrow Hospital-Michigan Nurses Association] for a three-year contract for our 2,300 PECSH-MNA-represented caregivers.
“We want to thank the bargaining team from PECSH-MNA for negotiating on behalf of their members and we’re especially grateful to our caregivers for the exceptional care and dedication they provide our patients every day. Navigating the pandemic for the past 21 months has been challenging for everyone and our caregivers have responded with grace and compassion.”
Details of the agreement are forthcoming, according to Sparrow. PECSH-MNA nursdes and caregivers will have the opportunity to vote on the contract in the coming days.
