BATTLE CREEK, MI — A tentative deal between Kellogg’s and its union is now awaiting final employee ratification. The five-year contract would give three-percent raises and cost of living adjustments. A vote by members of the Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers International Union on the tentative agreement has been scheduled for this Sunday, December 5.
However, Union Local 3-G president Trevor Bidelman thinks it’s a bad deal. Bidelman says there is nothing protecting jobs in Battle Creek from being sent to Mexico. More than 200 jobs will be cut from Battle Creek by the end of next year and sent south.
Employees at Battle Creek-based Kellogs have been on strike since October.
