BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Battle Creek police detectives are working to determine if there is a connection between three shootings that took place over a three-day period earlier this week.
Authorities say two men were arrested after police stopped a car that sped away from a shooting scene Sunday night, November 14, where an 18-year-old was shot in the head while sitting in a car in the 500 block of West Jackson Street.
Investigators said gunshots hit a home on the 300 block of Chestnut Street on Monday night, November 15, while on Tuesday, November 16, more gunshots hit a home and a car in the first block of Wilkes Street.
Investigators said the driver of the car near Sunday’s shooting has been charged with fleeing and eluding police. The passenger has been charged with a weapons offense.
All three shootings are currently under investigation.
There have been 60 shootings in Battle Creek as of November 18, in 2021, down from 90 in 2020.
