BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Senator John Bizon is facing misdemeanor assault charges stemming from a medical visit in August.
The Battle Creek Enquirer reports that Senator Bizon, R-Battle Creek, is accused of inappropriately touching a nurse practitioner at the Oaklawn After Hours Express in Marshall on August 14.
The 52-year-old nurse said that when she sat next to Bizon to explain a specific medication, Bizon reached his arm around her waist and pulled her closer, squeezing with his right hand.
The report says the nurse was shocked and did not tell him to stop as a result.
Bizon requested a different medication, which was denied due to it not being used for his symptoms. At that point, the report says Bizon got angry and left the room.
That nurse then told a medical assistant working at Oaklawn about the incident. That assistant said Bizon had also touched her while making inappropriate comments, which is alleged to have happened the same day while his vitals were being checked.
The Enquirer says a police report was filed a few days later, and Bizon now faces a misdemeanor assault charge. He will be tried by the Barry County Prosecutor’s Office.
Bizon is expected to be in court in January, per the report.
