KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – UPDATE – 7:00 p.m. – WWMT has confirmed that the sheared fire hydrant was the result of a crash.
Wednesday evening, WWMT reported that a dump truck towing a front-end loader collided with the hydrant, which then flooded the area.
At this time, there have been no reports made on whether the intersection is back open or not.

The Kalamazoo County Central Dispatch Authority is reporting that an unspecified accident has closed the intersection of North Westnedge Avenue and West North Street.
Officials say it involved a fire hydrant that was sheared off the intersection, resulting in severe water damage. Officials say the area is not structurally sound at this time.
No other details were provided.
