GALESBURG MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Galesburg-Augusta school officials are hoping that the second time is the charm, as the district prepares to ask voters to approve a bond issue that was narrowly defeated in May.
The 16.5 million dollar proposal, if passed, would allow the district to build four new fourth grade classrooms, a fifth classroom to be used in the STEAM curriculum area, and install a secure entry area at the primary school.
The proposal went down to defeat in May by only two votes, and a spokesperson for the schools said that district officials have done a better job of getting the information out to voters.
If passed, the bond will cost the taxpayer with a 100 thousand dollar home about five dollars a month, or $60 per year.
