LANSING MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A bill is pending in Lansing that would extend the time drivers could renew their registration to two years.
State Rep. Steven Johnson, R-Wayland, explained that his measure has bi-partisan support, as well as approval from the Secretary of State’s office.
Johnson said that the change would streamline paperwork for SOS and the state’s drivers, and if approved, the bill could become law as soon as next year.
Those wishing to obtain the recreational permit would also get the option to get it for two years.
Drivers would still have the option to renew every year if they wish to.
The bill is headed to the State Senate.
