BATTLE CREEK, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – The occupants of a home at 51 Battle Creek Avenue just south of downtown Battle Creek managed to get out safely when a fire broke out in the wee hours of Sunday morning.
The cause of the fire is being investigated by the fire marshal.
The fire was reported at 3:26 a.m.. The front of the house on the first floor was on fire when crews arrived.
Firefighters searched for occupants but everyone exited prior to their arrival after they were woken up by smoke alarms.
The fire was called under control about 20 minutes later.
Damages were estimated at $120,000 with most of the damages limited to the front of the house on the first floor.
