EVANSVILLE, IN (WKZO AM/FM) — The Western Michigan golf team, wrapped up its fall schedule by tying for third place at the Braun Intercollegiate, hosted by the University of Evansville on Tuesday.
Junior Alissa Fish tied for first place with IUPUI’s Shelby Busker and Green Bay’s Ashley Kulka after shooting a 36-round total of 154 (+10). The three went into a playoff with all of them parred the first whole but Kulka parred the second playoff hole, while Busker and Fish bogeyed. Fish wraps up the fall with top-20 finishes in every tournament she competed in.
Green Bay won the tournament with a 619 (+42), followed by the Jaguars at 629 (+315). The Broncos combined to shoot a 341 (+65) and tied with Illinois-Chicago. The host Purple Aces finished a stroke behind WMU and UIC with a 642 (+66), with North Alabama finishing in sixth and Chicago State in seventh.
Senior Cameryn Lucia also had a top-20 finish, tying for 17th with a two-round total of 163 (+19). Allyson Barth and Brooke Gibbons finished tied with each other in 26th after shooting 165 (+21). Fionah Khaing wrapped up WMU’s top five with a 168 (+24).
The Broncos are off until Feb. 7-8 when they head down to Lakewood Ranch, Fla., for the annual Mid-American Match Play Challenge hosted by Bowling Green.
