KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Unspecified altercations caused a lockdown at Kalamazoo Central High School Wednesday afternoon.
The school did not provide details on what sort of altercations there were, but said they occurred between multiple students, prompting a police presence.
School officials said multiple rumors had sprung up as a result of the lockdown, but confirmed that there were no injuries sustained or weapons used.
Superintendent Rita Raichoudhuri provided the following statement to news outlets –
“Conflicts in our community are spilling over into our schools. I’m calling for our students, parents and community to halt the violence. School is a place for students and staff to feel safe and thrive as learners and violence in our buildings will not be tolerated.”
