BATTLE CREEK, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – A fire which broke out late Tuesday afternoon at 64 Lamora Avenue is being blamed by Battle Creek fire officials on a short in electrical equipment.
The fire was reported just before 5:00 p.m.. There was smoke showing when the first crews arrived.
The fire started in a rear enclosed porch area where a space heater was plugged into the electrical outlet. One person was home at the time. They were alerted by smoke alarms and were able to get out safely.
The fire was put out within five minutes. One firefighter suffered a minor hand injury.
