PENN TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A Cass County resident is credited with rescuing a person whose vehicle caught fire after a crash Sunday morning. It happened on Decatur Rd. in Penn Township at around 8:45.
A vehicle driven by 22-year-old Jesus Martinez of South Bend, Indiana had left the roadway and struck a tree. The vehicle burst into flames and the owner of a nearby property helped assist Martinez in exiting the vehicle. He was transported to an Indiana hospital with undisclosed injuries.
Investigators believe drugs may have been a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation. Firefighters were able to extinguish the flames and no other injuries were reported.
