KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Kalamazoo Public Schools is seeing improvements when it comes to their bus driver shortage, but they’re still looking for candidates to fill other vacancies.
The shortage of drivers became so severe, the district was forced to cancel some bus routes on a rotating basis. Superintendent Dr. Rita Raichoudhuri says their appeal for help has worked, at least for now.
“We have not had to cancel any routes in over a week. While this is great news, and we are thankful to the community for responding to our request, we are asking for a similar response for food service personnel and guest teachers.”
She says they are still offering incentives to find people willing to fill those spots.
“Both are great jobs for people needing flexible schedules. Applications can be filled out at 1220 Howard St. or online at kpsjobs.com“
Schools, along with several businesses across the state and nation, have had similar problems with various staffing shortages stemming from the pandemic.
