Last major homeless encampment in Kalamazoo area cleared by Public Safety officers

KALAMAZOO MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The largest remaining homeless camp in the Kalamazoo area was cleared Thursday morning by officers with the Department of Public Safety.

The area, located on the site of the former Franklin Valley Estates on Stadium Dr., was blocked at both entrances, and officers assisted those who were there in leaving the area.

Unlike the scene at the former homeless encampment on Ampersee, officers reported no problems and no arrests made.

Former residents gathered in two parking areas nearby, but were asked to leave there as well.
