SPRINGFIELD, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – Two persons were injured Wednesday night when a sedan and a motorcycle collided in the City of Springfield.
The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department says the crash took place just after 7:00 p.m. in the area of Dickman Road and 20th Street.
They says the 37-year-old driver of the motorcycle from Battle Creek was taken to an area hospital and remains in critical condition.
The driver of the vehicle, an 18-year-old female from Battle Creek, was taken to an area hospital with minor injuries.
An initial investigation suggests that the westbound motorcycle was trying to turn south onto 20th Street when it failed to yield to oncoming traffic and the sedan struck the motorcycle.
Speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors, and the incident is still being investigated by the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction Team.
Deputies were assisted by LifeCare ambulance service and the Springfield Fire Department.
