WASHINGTON DC (WKZO AM/FM) – US Sen. Debbie Stabenow announced a plan Wednesday that will fully fund community behavioral health clinics in Michigan through Medicaid.
Stabenow said that the change, which will allow the clinics to fund services the way that physical care is, will provide more comprehensive care for those who need it.
The Michigan Health and Human Services Department will now allot about 26.5 million dollars in combined state and federal money to the clinics.
Kalamazoo County Sheriff Richard Fuller said, “Investing in mental health services in Kalamazoo has changed our community for the better. Senator Stabenow’s work to improve the way we fund centers like the one in Kalamazoo will provide people across Michigan the resources they need.”
Fuller spoke with us Wednesday morning about this subject. To listen to the interview, click here.
