PARCHMENT, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Tuesday, the Parchment Community Library announced that it will host a presentation by “Michigan’s Haunted Lighthouses” author Dianna Stampfler of Promote Michigan this month.
The presentation will take place Thursday, October 28 at 7:00 p.m.
The presentation will contain stories about Michigan’s haunted lighthouses. Library officials provided the following statement on the event:
“What is it about lighthouses that attracts ghostly spirits? Maybe it’s simply a passion that will not go away. Lighthouse keepers were known to be extremely dedicated to their profession and it seems that many were never able to give it up — even after death.
More than 30 lights in Michigan are rumored to be haunted. From the smell of cigar smoke at Seul Choix Point Light to the mysterious housekeeping at White River Light Station and the antics at Waugoshance Shoal, these stories will entertain all ages.”
This program is coming from the pages of Michigan’s Haunted Lighthouses, written by Stampfler and published in spring 2019 by The History Press.
The book was also recently adapted for readers aged 8-12 as The Ghostly Tales of Michigan’s Haunted Lighthouses by Diane Telgen, part of the Spooky America series from Arcadia Children’s Books.
A book signing will follow the presentation and copies of both books will be available for purchase.
