DETROIT MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A deal has been reached between General Motors and LG Electronics regarding the automaker’s recent recall of batteries made by LG that are at risk of fire.
LG will compensate GM between 1.9-2 billion dollars for the recall of batteries in GM’s Chevrolet Bolt vehicle.
That recall was expanded in August to cover vehicles produced since 2016, of which 13 fires have been reported.
GM officials say that the deal won’t affect the company’s relationship with Korea-based LG, and that they expect the two firms to continue production of electric vehicles for several years.
