KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Police in Kalamazoo say a vehicle crashed into a pole after being shot at and struck by a bullet near Western Michigan University. Officers were called to the 3600 block of W. Michigan Avenue, near Fraternity Village Dr., around 1:30 Sunday morning.
They initially were responding to the crash alone, but then received reports of shots fired in the area. At the scene, the driver said his vehicle had been hit by a bullet but he was not injured. The driver also said they did not want to pursue charges. Police have not identified any suspects.
It happened in the area of Bronco Club Apartments, where there has been a surge in criminal activity recently. Police records show nearly 20 complaint calls from the apartment complex have come in during the past thirty days.
