ATHENS, OH (WKZO AM/FM) — The Western Michigan women’s soccer team fell, 3-1, on the road at Ohio University on Thursday afternoon.
WMU picked up a goal from Bailey Korhorn but was unable to overcome the two-goal deficit. The Bobcats outshot the Broncos 20-10 overall and an 8-7 advantage in shots on goal.
Abby Townsend gave OU a very early 1-0 lead on a goal in just the fourth minute.
The Broncos responded with Korhorn’s fifth of the season when she split the defense and scored on a breakaway in the 33rd minute.
The Bobcats retook the lead on a strike from distance by Juliana Farina in the 42nd minute.
Shae Robertson scored in the 78th minute to push the lead to 3-1.
Western Michigan returns to the WMU Soccer Complex on Sunday to host Kent State at 2 p.m.
