NILES, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Michigan State Police are reporting that one of their Troopers and a suspect were both shot in the city of Niles Wednesday evening. The incident was reported around 10:30 p.m. on 9th Street between Regent and Main Streets.
On Twitter, MSP officials said that the Trooper was conducting a traffic stop when the shooting happened. He was apparently shot in the leg and taken to the hospital in stable condition. The suspect was also taken to the hospital with gunshot wounds after the Trooper returned fire. The extent of that person’s injuries was not immediately known.
No other details about the incident have been released at this time.
