KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Western Michigan hockey team is receiving votes in both the US College Hockey Online and USA Today/USA Hockey Polls released on Monday afternoon.
WMU received 69 points in the USCHO.com poll, earning an unofficial ranking of 22. AIC received 18 more votes than the Broncos and Clarkson, the official No. 20 team in the nation received 139. The USCHO.com Poll consists of 50 voters, including coaches and beat writers, and sports professionals from across the country.
The Broncos received nine votes in the USA Today/USA College Hockey Magazine poll, placing them unofficially 21st. The 27th annual USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Men’s College Hockey Poll is conducted each week in conjunction with the American Hockey Coaches Association. The poll includes input from coaches and journalists representing each of the six NCAA Division I ice hockey conferences, as well as composite votes from officers of the AHCA and USA Hockey.
Western Michigan kicks off the 2021-22 regular season this weekend hosting Ferris State at Lawson Ice Arena on Friday night at 7:05 p.m. Tickets are available by calling 1-888-4-WMUTIX and visiting www.wmubroncos.com/tickets. The Broncos travel up to Big Rapids on Saturday to take on the Bulldogs at Ewigleben Ice Arena at 7:07 p.m. Friday’s game will also be streamed live on NCHC.tv.
