KALAMAZOO MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Kalamazoo Wings made several big announcements at a press conference on Tuesday, October 5th, including two jersey retirements and a first-ever event.
Director of Public Relations/Broadcaster John Peterson revealed that the two players to have their numbers raised to the Wings Event Center rafters will be Neil Meadmore and Tyler Willis.
Meadmore played parts of eight seasons with Kalamazoo, and his #27 will be retired on January 15, 2022, as the K Wings host Cincinnati.
Willis, who wore #13 for Kalamazoo for parts of seven season, will see his jersey retired on April 15, 2022, as Kalamazoo hosts Toledo.
K Wings General Manager Toni Will announced that the team will host a first-of-its-kind “Rainbow Ice” game as part of the team’s “Hockey Is for Everyone” event on January 7, 2022.
The rainbow ice game will join four other colored ice games on the team’s schedule.
